SWS Forestry … Smelling of Roses!

SWS Forestry recently sponsored George Enraght-Moony, a 23 year old Law graduate from NUI Galway, who was nominated to be an escort for the Rose of Tralee Festival. George, who hails from The Doon in Offaly, was one of 32 escorts chosen from 250 applicants to be an escort for the Rose of Tralee Festival. George was the escort for the Kilkenny rose Aiobhín Murphy (The Youngest Rose) Her party piece on the Monday night was a monologue by Oscar Wilde ‘The Proposal’. George said “It was a great opportunity for me to get to participate in the Rose of Tralee festival, It was an exhilarating eight days with late nights and early mornings, but overall a unique & memorable experience. A highlight for me was seeing the look of excitement on the children’s faces at the parade as they see each of the Roses as celebrities. I’m looking forward to meeting up with the Roses & Escorts at the various reunions in the future. I’ve made many new friends from this festival and would recommend anyone to get involved, be it as a Rose, Escort or with their regional selection committee. I was very grateful to SWS Forestry for their sponsorship of me in the Rose of Tralee Festival”.

SWS Forestry is a strong believer in contributing to the local communities, SWS Forestry is a huge rural employer with people employed in various forestry operations such as planting, grass cleaning, Pruning, Spraying, fencing to name a

few. Overall it has been a positive year for forestry with an increase in interest in planting forestry in the midlands and across the country. According to Alec Moony SWS Forestry’s forester in the midlands “With annual premiums of up to €208 per acre and grants to cover all development costs, it is a great incentive for those wishing to get into forestry and have a secure investment”. Alec went on to say “With the increase in thinning and the demand for timber there is a good market there for anyone who plants forestry to get a good return on their investment. Timber Lorries are a constant visual on our roads these days and that is because there is a demand for timber, there will be a demand into the future”. Alec Moony is the Forester for the midlands, if you wish to have a chat with him regarding the options of planting he is available to call to you for a free, no obligation consultation call Alec Moony on 0871334439
