Declan has a B.Agr.Sc. Forestry and has been a full-time employee of SWS Forestry for over twenty six years. He has successfully established and managed over 5,000 hectares of forest plantations. He has experience in a wide range of silviculture operations.
Declan has managed many large-scale establishment, roading & harvesting projects, all successfully completed to Forest Service standards. He is currently responsible for planting, roading, harvesting and management of plantations in the greater Kerry region. Declan works closely with forestry owners and 3rd party bodies such as the Forest Service, Inland Fisheries Ireland, County Councils, Coillte, ESB and local communities. Declan has vast experience in dealing with windfarms and associated forestry projects which involve the successful establishment of trees, future planning for environmental monitoring, felling licences, construction of roads and co-ordinating harvesting operations on site. He has extensive experience with a number of Native Woodland Establishment sites and has previously overseen the Native Woodland Conservation project at Killarney National Park on behalf of the National Parks & Wildlife Service.
